Y6 Reading Pen
Premium dot-matrix display OID 3.0 reading pen on the AK1060L platform: 132x32 front LCD, five front buttons, front MIC, large tip, external TF slot, Micro USB, earphone jack and 400 mAh rechargeable battery. A distinctive cylindrical model for premium retail and structured language programs.
The Y6 Reading Pen moves up to display feedback without jumping to video pricing. Built on the AK1060L platform, it pairs OID 3.0 recognition, a large pen tip and external TF storage with a 132×32 dot-matrix LCD, five front buttons and a front microphone — so users see mode, track and status information at a glance. In the industry these devices are also widely called talking pens.
The straight cylindrical blue housing with chrome trim is deliberately distinct on shelf, and the feature set places the Y6 in the popular premium-but-not-video tier: rich enough for older students and feature-conscious retail buyers in Gulf and East Asian markets, simpler and cheaper than the color-screen flagship Q8.
Key features
OID 3.0 recognition
Third-generation optical identification reads OID codes on textbooks, readers, flashcards and posters quickly and reliably.
AK1060L platform
The display-capable main-control chipset that powers our dot-matrix LCD models, with mature firmware and a stable supply chain.
Large pen tip
The chunky SONIX large tip remains forgiving across page thicknesses and user ages, from upper-primary students upward.
External TF card slot
Libraries and language packs live on an external TF card, so content catalogs can keep expanding after the hardware sale.
132×32 dot-matrix LCD
A small front display confirms mode, track and status without the cost or battery load of a color screen; five front buttons and a front MIC drive the interaction.
400 mAh battery
A built-in rechargeable lithium battery charges through the Micro USB port, with a 3.5 mm earphone jack for individual listening.

Frequently Asked Questions about the Y6 Reading Pen
Answers to the most common buyer questions about the Y6 OID reading pen — order process, customization, compatibility, warranty and after-sales support.
"What is the difference between OID 2.0 and OID 3.0?"
OID 2.0 is the older 12x12 dot code, slower recognition, lower audio quality. OID 3.0 is the newer 14x14 dot code, faster recognition, higher audio fidelity, supports layered audio. The Y6 plays both.
"Why would I choose the Y6 instead of the K7?"
If your existing library includes OID 2.0 books (e.g. older titles from previous suppliers) and you need backward compatibility, the Y6 is the only pen in our lineup that plays both protocols.
"Can the Y6 read all my old books?"
Yes. The Y6 firmware auto-detects OID 2.0 vs 3.0 codes and plays the correct audio track. No manual switching required.
"What is the maximum SD card size the Y6 supports?"
Micro-SD up to 32 GB, holding approximately 6,000 books at average MP3 bitrate.
"How long does the Y6 battery last?"
The 500 mAh battery delivers 6–7 hours of continuous reading and 120+ days standby.
"Is the Y6 suitable for replacement markets?"
Yes. The Y6 is widely used in markets where consumers already own OID 2.0 books from previous suppliers and want a backward-compatible reader.
How to use the Y6 Reading Pen
- "Power on the Y6". Press and hold the power button for 2 seconds. The welcome voice plays and the LED turns blue.
- "Insert a micro-SD card". Open the SD slot cover, insert the card (gold contacts facing up) until it clicks, then close the cover.
- "Auto-detect OID 2.0/3.0". No action required. The Y6 firmware auto-detects the code type when the pen touches a book.

OEM customization on the Y6
The Y6 uses existing production tooling, so customization starts at much lower volumes than a brand-new housing project:
- Custom colors — plastic compound matched to your Pantone plaque; the chrome trim and button finish can be coordinated to your brand line.
- Logo and branding — pad printing on the housing and custom-printed retail boxes, manuals and inserts.
- Display firmware — status screens, menus and the MIC-enabled voice features are configured in firmware per program; provide your interaction flow and engineering confirms the build.
- TF content programs — starter cards preloaded in the factory with a repeatable workflow for expansion titles; see how to prepare audio and OID print files.
- Family alternatives — want a wider display and wireless charging? See the KF1; need color video? Compare the flagship Q8.
See OEM vs ODM reading pen customization options for how color runs, logo work, packaging and new tooling are quoted.

Frequently asked questions
What can the 132×32 LCD display show?
It is a dot-matrix text/status display, not a picture screen: firmware can render mode names, track numbers, status icons and similar short information. If your program needs images or video, the 2.4-inch color TFT Q8 is the correct model.
What is the front microphone used for?
The MIC hardware supports voice features enabled in the project firmware, such as recording-style pronunciation practice. Tell us your pedagogical requirement and we will confirm the supported feature set.
How does the Y6 compare with the T2?
The T2 runs the SONIX 95303 with seven physical buttons and LED-only feedback; the Y6 runs the AK1060L with five buttons, MIC and a dot-matrix display, giving on-screen mode and track confirmation in a distinct cylindrical design.
Can libraries be expanded after sale?
Yes — the Y6 uses an external TF card, so new titles, subjects and language packs ship as card updates while the hardware stays the same.
Does it support multiple languages on the display?
Display rendering and audio content are configured in firmware for each program; the pen is language-neutral and bilingual or multi-language builds are routine. Ask sales to confirm the character-set support for your language.
