Reading Pen Manufacturing & Production Capabilities

How a Kidkey Union reading pen batch is actually built: incoming material control, proprietary PCBA, assembly, audio loading, OID code pairing, aging, recognition testing and export packing — coordinated by one program team from purchase order to carton handover.

End-to-End Program

One accountable team across the whole build

Approximately 8,000 m² of production space in Bao'an, Shenzhen, runs 3 SMT lines and 8 assembly lines with 200+ production and engineering staff. PCBA, assembly, audio loading, book-code matching and packing are managed inside one production program, so a change requested after the pilot batch reaches the line without being reinterpreted by intermediaries.
  • 3 SMT lines and 8 assembly lines on one connected site
  • 200+ production, engineering and quality staff
  • ~300,000 reading-pen units of monthly capacity
  • Locked-BOM SKUs documented per repeat purchase order
  • Preloaded audio and OID code pairing per book program
Production Workflow

Six controlled stages in every production batch

Incoming material control

SONIX/AK chips, OID sensor heads, Li-ion cells, speakers, plastics and packaging are checked against the order specification before reaching the line.

PCBA & assembly

Proprietary board assembly plus mechanical assembly of housing, buttons, tip, battery, speaker and microphone per locked SKU.

Audio loading & OID pairing

Voice and music files are loaded to the agreed file list and paired with the OID code map of the book, sticker or flashcard program.

Aging & burn-in

Powered aging and charge/discharge cycles screen early-life failures in-house, before units reach children.

Recognition & final test

OID point-reading recognition, button functions, audio playback and volume behavior are checked against the build checklist.

Packing & marking

Unit packing, color box or neutral carton, cables, manuals, coded books, outer carton and shipping marks per market.

Order to Shipment

How a repeat purchase order moves through the factory

1

Order confirmation

Model, quantities, housing colors, audio file list, books, packaging and document requirements frozen before the build.

2

Material & build preparation

Chips, cells, plastics and print materials allocated against the locked BOM and schedule.

3

Assembly & loading

Units are assembled, firmware and audio loaded, and OID pairing prepared to the documented SKU procedure.

4

Aging & inspection

Powered aging, recognition and functional checks and final inspection before release to packing.

5

Packing & verification

Branded or neutral packing, carton marking, book and accessory verification and shipment documents.

6

Freight handover

Booking coordination and handover under the agreed incoterm, with battery documents prepared.

Factory visits, audits and confidentiality
Buyer Assurance

Factory visits, audits and confidentiality

Visits in Shenzhen (Bao'an) are welcome by appointment, and third-party inspections can be scheduled before bulk commitment. Detailed capacity information, test records and customer references are provided only under mutual NDA — buyer identities and commercial terms are never published.
Manufacturing FAQ

Factory and production questions

Are these your own production lines or a trading office?
Kidkey Union is the contracting manufacturer with 15 years focused on OID products. Proprietary PCBA, assembly, audio loading, OID pairing, aging and packing are managed in the Shenzhen production program. Factory visits are welcome by appointment.
How is build consistency maintained between repeat orders?
Each OEM SKU has a locked BOM, an audio-loading and OID-pairing procedure and a build checklist. Any unavoidable component change is communicated before production rather than silently substituted.
Do you also produce the coded books?
Yes. OID-coded books, stickers and flashcards can be produced and paired with the pens in the same program, so print codes and pen firmware are validated together rather than across two suppliers.
What lead time should we plan for?
Lead time varies with model, quantity, housing customization, audio/book scope and packaging. Catalog configurations are fastest; custom colors, printed packaging and book print runs add preparation time. A realistic schedule is part of every quotation.
Can third-party inspectors audit the batch?
Yes. Buyer-arranged or third-party inspections can be scheduled at agreed production stages. Discuss the inspection standard in the RFQ so it is built into the plan.

Need a factory matched to your program volume?

Send the model, quantity, audio and book scope, customization and market — the reply includes lead-time logic and the right production path for the project.
