QUALITY ASSURANCE

Reading Pen Quality Control, Testing & Inspection Process

How production batches are checked before shipment: incoming inspection, in-line assembly checks, OID recognition testing, audio and child-safe volume checks, drop testing, battery aging and outgoing inspection — aligned with toy and electrical safety expectations such as EN71, EN62115 and ASTM F963.
Inspection Flow

Quality gates from incoming material to carton

Each gate below is a documented checkpoint in the production workflow. Buyers on OEM programs receive the agreed checklist and can add project-specific inspection items.
1

IQC incoming

Chips, cells, plastics, OID heads, speakers and print materials checked against specification and safety expectations.

2

In-line checks

Assembly torque, seating, cable routing, button feel and interface presence verified during the build.

3

Functional test

Every unit exercises buttons, charging, speaker, microphone, LED, storage and OID point-reading behavior.

4

Aging & drop

Up to 8-hour powered aging with charge/discharge cycles, plus drop-oriented structural checks for child-handling durability.

5

OQC outgoing

Final function, cosmetic, labeling, book/accessory and carton-mark verification sampled to ISO 2859-1 General Level II (AQL 1.5 major / 2.5 minor, zero critical).

What Gets Checked

Reading-pen-specific inspection coverage

OID recognition

Point-reading is tested across the code map, paper stocks and typical holding angles, not just on one demo card.

Audio quality & volume

Speech and music clarity, maximum-volume safety behavior and playback controls checked per age-group requirement.

Drop durability

Housings, tips and battery compartments checked against drop and rough-handling expectations for young children.

Battery behavior

Charge/discharge, 300–600 mAh cell behavior, run time and low-power shutdown verified per SKU.

Materials safety Non-toxic material direction, edge and small-part awareness aligned with EN71/ASTM F963 expectations.

Labels & marking

Rating labels, age-grade marks, serial numbers, logo and carton marks checked against approved artwork.

Book & bundle matching

Every co-packed book, flashcard or poster is matched to the loaded audio and OID map.

Buyer add-on items

Project-specific points such as firmware version, default volume or asset tags added to the SKU checklist.

Third-party and buyer inspections
Independent Verification

Third-party and buyer inspections

Buyers can schedule their own QC team or an independent inspection agency at agreed stages — typically at final random inspection before shipment. The acceptance standard, sample size and special test items are defined in advance so the inspection has an objective basis.
  • 100% functional check of every unit before packing
  • Powered aging racks with charge/discharge cycling
  • Calibrated OID code cards, sound-level meter and drop tester
  • Outgoing sampling per ISO 2859-1 General Level II
  • Buyer or third-party inspectors welcome at final random inspection
Quality FAQ

Testing and inspection questions

Is every unit tested or only sampled?
Both. Functional testing, OID recognition checks and up to 8-hour powered aging are applied to every unit before release; outgoing inspection uses structured sampling per ISO 2859-1 General Level II (AQL 1.5 major / 2.5 minor, zero critical). The exact logic for your SKU is confirmed in the quotation and quality plan.
How do you test the OID reading function?
Point-reading is exercised against the program's code map across positions, angles and paper materials so recognition problems surface at the factory, not in a classroom.
Are the pens tested against toy safety standards?
Material and design checks follow the direction of EN71, EN62115 and ASTM F963 for the applicable market, including material safety, edges and small-part awareness. Formal certificates are scoped per model and market.
Can we require a specific test or acceptance standard?
Yes. Project-specific checklists, volume limits, firmware versions, labeling rules or named third-party standards can be added to the quality plan agreed before pilot production.
Do you provide test records with the shipment?
Test and document scope is defined per program. Detailed records are available under agreed QC arrangements; compliance documents are prepared per model and market.

Specify the quality standard your program needs

State the learner age group and any required inspection or test standard in the RFQ. The quality plan is written before the pilot batch, not after.
