T2 Reading Pen
The most control-rich non-screen OID 3.0 reading pen: SONIX 95303 with five front and two side buttons, large tip, external TF card slot, Mini USB, earphone jack and 400 mAh rechargeable battery in a glossy metallic housing. Built for feature-dense curricula and premium gift sets below LCD price levels.
The T2 Reading Pen is the most control-rich model we build without a screen: five front buttons and two side buttons around a proven SONIX 95303 core. When a program needs multiple modes, direct volume control, recording triggers or track navigation all on the housing — but does not want the cost tier of an LCD model — the T2 is the configuration that fits. In the industry these devices are also widely called talking pens.
It keeps the chunky large pen tip for young children, an external TF card slot for expandable libraries and a 400 mAh battery, all in an elongated glossy housing with metallic-gold finishing. The button layout and speaker grille make it a natural premium gift or feature-dense retail SKU.
Key features
OID 3.0 recognition
Third-generation optical identification reads OID codes on books, flashcards and posters quickly and reliably.
SONIX 95303 platform
The mature, mass-produced main-control chipset used across our best-selling models — stable supply chain and firmware.
Large pen tip
The chunky SONIX large tip is forgiving for young children and thick board-book pages while supporting dense OID layouts.
External TF card slot
Audio libraries live on an external TF card, so new titles, modes and language packs can be added after sale.
Seven physical controls
Five front buttons and two side buttons cover power, volume, track and mode operations directly — the richest button set on a non-screen model.
400 mAh battery
A built-in rechargeable lithium battery charges through the Mini USB port; an LED shows power and reading status.

Typical applications
Feature-dense audio curricula
Programs with multiple reading modes, replay, volume and navigation on the housing get dedicated buttons rather than hidden tap combinations.
Premium gift sets
The metallic-gold housing and detailed front make the T2 a strong gift-tier SKU for holiday bundles and high-end book sets.
Electronics retail without screens
Retailers wanting a feature-loaded reading pen below the price of LCD models can merchandise the T2 as the top of the button-controlled range.
Multi-mode library expansions
External TF storage lets later titles introduce new modes and languages while the same seven-button hardware stays on shelf.

OEM customization on the T2
The T2 uses existing production tooling, so customization starts at much lower volumes than a brand-new housing project:
- Custom colors — plastic compound matched to your Pantone plaque on the same glossy finish, including metallic colorways.
- Logo and branding — pad printing on the housing and custom-printed premium gift boxes, manuals and inserts.
- Firmware mapping — tell us which functions each of the seven controls triggers in your program and engineering maps the firmware accordingly.
- TF content programs — starter cards preloaded in the factory with a repeatable workflow for expansions; see how to prepare audio and OID print files.
- Family alternatives — need fewer buttons? Compare the L5 (five front buttons); need an LCD display? Step up to the Y6.
See OEM vs ODM reading pen customization options for how color runs, logo work, packaging and new tooling are quoted.

Frequently asked questions
Why would a program need seven buttons?
Rich audio curricula often need power, volume up/down, previous/next track, mode switching and a recording or repeat trigger as dedicated controls. Putting them on the housing avoids hidden tap-hold combinations and reduces support questions from parents and teachers.
What is the difference between the T2 and the Y6?
The Y6 adds a 132×32 dot-matrix LCD for mode and track feedback on the AK1060L platform; the T2 keeps costs lower with LED feedback only and offers seven direct buttons instead. Choose the Y6 when users need on-screen confirmation, and the T2 when physical controls are enough.
Can the side buttons be assigned to our app functions?
The physical controls are mapped in firmware during production. Provide your desired interaction list and our engineering team will confirm which actions each button triggers for your build.
Can new books and modes be added after sale?
Yes — the external TF card carries the program, so expansion titles and modes ship as card updates or new card sets while the hardware stays unchanged.
Does it support multiple languages?
The pen itself is language-neutral: it plays whatever audio is loaded on the card, so English, Spanish, Arabic, French, Russian and bilingual programs are all supported.
