L5 Reading Pen
Preschool-friendly OID 3.0 reading pen combining a large child-friendly tip with an external TF card slot for expandable libraries: SONIX 95303, five front buttons, Mini USB, earphone jack and 350 mAh rechargeable battery in a sleek glossy housing. Ideal for parent-child reading kits and growing preschool libraries.
The L5 Reading Pen pairs the child-friendly large pen tip with an expandable external TF card library — a combination most other models force buyers to choose between. Built
on the proven SONIX 95303 platform with OID 3.0, five front buttons and a sleek monochrome glossy housing, it is designed for preschool reading programs that start with one set of books and plan to add more. In the industry these devices are also widely called talking pens.Audio is loaded on a TF card that can be updated or expanded as your catalog grows, while the large tip and simple five-button layout stay forgiving for children aged roughly 3–6. A Mini USB port handles charging and data, and the 3.5 mm earphone jack supports quiet individual listening.

Third-generation optical identification reads OID codes on board books, picture books, flashcards and posters quickly and reliably.
SONIX 95303 platform
The mature, mass-produced main-control chipset used across our best-selling entry models — stable supply chain and support.
Large preschool tip
The chunky SONIX large tip matches the grip and coordination of young children and is forgiving on thick board-book pages.
External TF card slot
The library lives on an external TF card, so new titles and expansions can be added after sale without changing the hardware.
Five front buttons
One round multi-function control cluster with power, track and volume markings keeps every playback function directly on the housing.
350 mAh battery
A built-in rechargeable lithium battery charges through the Mini USB port; an LED shows power and reading status at a glance.

Frequently Asked Questions about the L5 Reading Pen
Answers to the most common buyer questions about the L5 OID reading pen — order process, customization, compatibility, warranty and after-sales support.
"How much audio content can the L5 store?"
The built-in 4 GB TF holds approximately 800–1,000 books at average MP3 bitrate (64 kbps). For larger libraries, use the L5's external USB mass-storage mode to drag-and-drop new books from a PC.
"Is the L5 the same as the K7?"
The L5 and K7 share the same SONIX 95303 platform and OID 3.0 codec, so they play identical books. The differences are: L5 has built-in storage (no card slot) and a gloss finish; K7 has external TF (you can swap cards to load new libraries instantly) and a matte finish.
"Can the L5 connect to a computer?"
Yes. Connect via the included micro-USB cable; the pen mounts as a USB mass-storage device. You can drag new OID-encoded book folders into the /books/ directory.
"What is the warranty on the L5?"
12-month manufacturer warranty. We stock replacement tips, batteries and PCBs for 36 months after your last order, ensuring long-term after-sales support.
"Can I get the L5 with a custom logo at low MOQ?"
Yes. Silk-screen logo printing starts at 1,000 pieces; full-colour pad printing starts at 3,000 pieces. Gift-box artwork is customised at any quantity.
"Is the L5 suitable for Arabic and Hebrew (right-to-left) books?"
Yes. OID 3.0 supports right-to-left scripts and we have shipped L5 pens with Arabic, Hebrew, Persian and Urdu firmware.
"How does the L5 compare to the Q8?"
The L5 is an audio-only reading pen (no extra cartridge slot). The Q8 adds a 2.4-inch colour TFT screen and video playback for higher-end multimedia books.
"What is the production lead time for an L5 bulk order?"
Standard production lead time is 30 days after deposit and artwork approval. For 5,000+ piece orders, allow an extra 7 days for quality inspection and pre-shipment sample approval.

OEM customization on the L5
The L5 uses existing production tooling, so customization starts at much lower volumes than a brand-new housing project:
- Custom colors — plastic compound matched to your Pantone plaque on the same glossy finish; the front panel can be color-coded separately.
- Logo and branding — pad printing on the housing and custom-printed gift boxes, manuals and inserts.
- TF content programs — starter cards preloaded in the factory, with a repeatable workflow for expansion titles; see how to prepare audio and OID print files.
- Accessory bundles — matched children's headphones, book sets and carry cases packed together as a finished retail kit.
- Family alternatives — need a matte finish and small tip for school-age series? See the K7; a fixed library with no card slot? Compare the B1.
See OEM vs ODM reading pen customization options for how color runs, logo work, packaging and new tooling are quoted.

Frequently asked questions
How is the L5 different from the B1 and B2?
All three use the SONIX 95303 chip, OID 3.0 and the large child-friendly tip. The B1 and B2 store audio on fixed built-in TF and use two or four buttons; the L5 adds a user-accessible external TF card slot for libraries that expand, with five buttons and Mini USB.
How is the L5 different from the K7?
Both support external TF cards. The K7 uses the smaller tip, four buttons and a matte housing aimed at school-age series; the L5 keeps the chunky large tip and glossy styling for preschool users.
Can parents add new books themselves?
New titles are distributed as updated or additional TF card content. Your program decides whether end users receive expansion cards, download packages, or simply get a new card with each book set — our team can help design the workflow.
Does it work with headphones?
Yes, the L5 includes a 3.5 mm earphone jack, so it supports standard wired children's headphones for quiet listening.
Does it support multiple languages?
The pen itself is language-neutral: it plays whatever audio is loaded on the card, so English, Spanish, Arabic, French, Russian and bilingual programs are all supported.
