K7 Reading Pen

$0.00 $0.00 (In stock)

Matte-finish OID 3.0 reading pen on the SONIX 95303 platform with a small tip, four front buttons and an external TF card slot for libraries that expand after sale, powered by a 350 mAh rechargeable battery. The workhorse for ongoing graded-reader and book-series programs in school channels.

The K7 Reading Pen is the workhorse for reading programs that grow. Built on the SONIX 95303 platform with OID 3.0 recognition and a small pen tip, it adds a user-a

ccessible external TF card slot, so publishers can release new titles and libraries long after the pen has been sold. In the industry these devices are also widely called talking pens.

The K7 also stands out by finish: where most entry pens use glossy plastic, the K7 ships in a matte (sand-textured) injection-molded housing that fingerprints less and feels more substantial in the hand. Combined with four direct front buttons and a 350 mAh battery, it is the model most often chosen for ongoing book-series programs in school channels.

Key features

OID 3.0 recognition

Third-generation optical identification reads OID codes across readers, workbooks, flashcards and posters quickly and reliably.

SONIX 95303 platform

The mature, mass-produced main-control chipset used across our best-selling school models — stable, proven and easy to support.

Small pen tip

The smaller SONIX tip suits the denser layouts of graded readers and text-heavy series books used by school-age children.

External TF card slot

A physical TF slot lets new audio libraries be added title by title — sell the pen once and keep selling content for years.

Four front buttons

Power and playback/volume controls sit in a clear oval panel on the housing, with an LED for power and reading status.

350 mAh battery

A built-in rechargeable lithium battery supports daily classroom and home reading; the matte housing stays clean through heavy handling.

Typical applications

Ongoing reading series

Publishers release level 1 with the pen and add levels 2, 3 and beyond on TF — the same hardware supports a multi-year content catalog.

School channel libraries

The matte finish, slim shape and four-button layout make the K7 the default workhorse for book-series rollouts in school channels.

Retail content bundles

Sell starter packs and expansion packs separately: the pen with one TF card, then add-on cards for new themes, languages or grades.

Multi-language programs

Distributors serving several languages can configure TF cards per market while keeping one identical pen hardware SKU in stock.

Frequently Asked Questions about the K7 Reading Pen

Answers to the most common buyer questions about the K7 OID reading pen — order process, customization, compatibility, warranty and after-sales support.

"What is the difference between the K7 and the L5?"

Both run OID 3.0 on the SONIX 95303 platform, but the K7 has an external TF card slot (you can swap books by changing the card), while the L5 uses built-in TF storage. The K7 has a smaller pen tip for finer-point books and a matte housing; the L5 has a gloss finish and 4 GB built-in storage.

"Can I load my own audio books and OID print files onto the K7?"

Yes. We supply the OID encoding tool and audio conversion script free of charge to OEM customers. You provide the print-ready PDF and the audio files (MP3 / WAV), and our engineering team returns a signed OID 3.0 book that plays directly on the K7.

"What languages does the K7 support?"

The K7 supports any language that can be encoded into OID 3.0 — English, Chinese, Spanish, French, German, Arabic, Russian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Italian, Turkish and more. Voice prompts and UI text are localized per market.

"What is the minimum order quantity for the K7?"

MOQ is 1,000 pieces per SKU / colour. For custom housing colour or logo printing, MOQ is 3,000 pieces. Mixed-SKU shipments across the K7/L5/P2/T2/KF1 family are allowed at 1,000-piece minimum per model.

"What is the battery life of the K7?"

The 350 mAh lithium-polymer battery delivers 4–5 hours of continuous reading and 90+ days standby. It charges fully in 90 minutes via micro-USB (cable included).

"Does the K7 work with OID 2.0 books?"

No. The K7 is an OID 3.0-only reader. If your existing library is OID 2.0, we recommend the Y6 reading pen, which has dual OID 2.0/3.0 firmware.

"Can I customize the K7 housing colour and logo?"

Yes. Custom Pantone colour, silk-screen logo, full-color pad printing, and gift-box artwork are all part of our OEM service. Lead time for custom tooling is 15 days; bulk production follows the standard 30-day schedule.

"What warranty and after-sales support does the K7 include?"

12 months manufacturer warranty against defects. Replacement parts (tips, batteries, charging cables) are stocked for 36 months after your last order. We provide remote diagnostic support and on-site engineering visits for orders over USD 100,000.

How to use the K7 Reading Pen

  1. "Unbox and power on the K7 reading pen". Slide the pen out of the gift box, peel off the battery insulator tab from the rear cap, and press the power button for 2 seconds. The LED will turn blue and the welcome voice prompt plays in your default language.
  2. "Insert the TF card with your OID book". Open the TF slot cover on the side of the pen, insert the TF card (gold contacts facing up) until it clicks, then close the cover. The pen will auto-load the books within 5 seconds.
  3. "Switch between languages". Long-press the language button (third button from the top) for 2 seconds to open the language menu. Use the up/down buttons to highlight the target language, then short-press OK to confirm.
  4. "Pair the pen with a new OID 3.0 book". Books purchased from our factory are pre-paired. For custom books, request the OID pairing file (.opk) from our engineering team, then copy it to the TF card's /books/ folder.
  5. "Charge the pen". Connect the included micro-USB cable to any 5V/1A USB charger. The LED turns red while charging and green when full. A full charge takes 90 minutes.
  6. "Reset the pen to factory defaults". Power off, then hold the power button + volume-down button together for 8 seconds. The pen restarts with default language, volume and book list.

OEM customization on the K7

The K7 uses existing production tooling, so customization starts at much lower volumes than a brand-new housing project:

  • Custom colors — plastic compound matched to your Pantone plaque in the same matte finish, with the button panel color-coded to your series identity.
  • Logo and branding — pad printing on the housing and custom-printed boxes, manuals and library cards.
  • TF content programs — starter cards preloaded in the factory, plus a repeatable workflow for expansion cards; see how to prepare audio and OID print files.
  • Book and card sets — OID printing for leveled readers, workbooks and posters, bundled with the pen or sold as series expansions.
  • Family alternatives — prefer a fixed library and glossy housing? Compare the B2; need a large preschool tip with external storage? See the L5.

See OEM vs ODM reading pen customization options for how color runs, logo work, packaging and new tooling are quoted.

Frequently asked questions

What does "external TF card" mean for our business?

The audio library lives on a TF card inserted into the pen rather than on fixed internal storage. New titles can be released as expansion cards or card updates, so the content catalog keeps growing after the hardware sale — a core advantage for reading-series business models.

What is the difference between glossy and matte housing?

Glossy plastic (as on the B1/B2) is shiny and colorful; the K7's matte sand-textured finish shows fewer fingerprints and scuffs under heavy classroom handling. Both are injection-molded without spray coating. See the notes in our model selection guide.

Can the same pen support several languages?

Yes — one common approach is separate TF cards per language, or a combined library organized by folder. The pen hardware is language-neutral and plays whatever audio is loaded.

Which models are most similar to the K7?

The L5 shares the external-TF design but uses the large pen tip, five buttons and glossy housing for younger users. The B2 offers the same school-friendly platform with fixed built-in storage.

How do we prepare audio and OID files for a series?

Your print files carry the OID codes and your master recordings are mapped to them; our team coordinates code allocation and audio mastering. The step-by-step is in the audio and OID print-file guide.
